What does CamCue do during an interview?
CamCue is a desktop AI assistant for Mac that drafts answers to spoken questions and questions on your screen. You can provide your CV, the job description, and supporting documents so the answers reflect your experience. It supports interviews, coding questions, practice sessions, and everyday calls.
The current release requires Apple Silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 14.2 or later. Windows and Intel Mac installers are not available yet. You need a CamCue account and an internet connection for AI answers.
Three ways to bring a question into CamCue
- Listen: transcribe computer and microphone audio locally, recognize spoken questions, and draft an answer using the conversation as context.
- Capture: analyze a question or coding problem from an entire screen.
- Select: drag over a specific question or paragraph to keep the request focused.
Make the answer relevant to your experience
Choose Interview or Coding Interview mode, add your CV, and paste a job description or public job link. Add instructions about the role, the language you want to answer in, and the details you want to emphasize. Save this as a context preset for your next session.
For example, before practicing “Tell me about a difficult customer,” add notes about an actual customer situation you handled. Review the suggested answer against those notes and use your own words. An AI answer can be inaccurate; it should not invent experience or replace your judgment.
Practice before the real conversation
Choose “No call? Try a demo” in the app. The practice demo asks spoken questions and uses your context when supplied, or a built-in example profile. Advance through the questions at your own pace. Demo sessions have a separate allowance displayed in the app.
Follow the Mac setup guide to check permissions, audio, and screen sharing before your first session. Use assistance only where the interviewer or assessment rules permit it.
Can other people see CamCue?
Stealth requests that supported capture apps exclude CamCue and keeps it out of the Dock. It cannot guarantee invisibility across all meeting apps, recorders, or macOS versions. Check what the other participant receives on a second device. Sharing a specific application window or a separate display is another option.
What happens to audio and documents?
Listen speech recognition runs on your Mac after a one-time model download of about 575 MB. Raw Listen audio is not saved or uploaded. Recognized speech, text extracted from your screen, and relevant document excerpts and context are sent through CamCue’s service to AI providers. Session history and context presets stay local and do not sync between computers.
