Get started with CamCue on Mac

Install CamCue, set up audio and context, and test your first AI-assisted session on an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14.2 or later.

Updated September 19, 2026

1. Check your Mac and install CamCue

You need an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later), macOS 14.2 or later, and an internet connection. The current release is v0.1.7. It is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple. There is no Windows or Intel Mac installer yet.

Download the DMG, open it, and move CamCue to Applications. Launch the app and sign in to your CamCue account. You do not need to supply an AI API key.

2. Set up audio before your first call

Start Listen and follow the macOS prompts for the audio sources you use. System audio captures the other side of a call; microphone audio provides your side as context. Allow the requested system-audio and microphone access. If you previously denied access, review CamCue’s permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security and reopen the app if prompted.

Local speech recognition needs a one-time model download of about 575 MB. Complete it before an important call. An internet connection is still required to generate AI answers.

3. Add context for the conversation

Choose the mode that matches your task: Interview, Coding Interview, Quiz/Test, or Call. For an interview, add your CV and a job description. Set your response language and any custom instructions, then save a context preset if you want to reuse the setup.

Supported documents include PDFs with selectable text, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, TXT, Markdown, CSV, and JSON. If a job link cannot be imported, paste the job description instead. Scanned PDFs without selectable text are not the same as text PDFs.

4. Try a question

Select “No call? Try a demo” to practice Listen before joining a real conversation. Use your own context or the built-in example and move to the next question when ready. The demo allowance is shown separately in the app.

For an on-screen question, use Select to choose an area or Capture to analyze an entire screen. Review the answer and correct any inaccurate details. See an example interview workflow.

5. Check screen sharing from the receiving side

If you use Stealth, test with the same meeting app and sharing mode you plan to use. Join from a second device and inspect the received picture. For Zoom, CamCue recommends Advanced capture with window filtering. Stealth cannot guarantee exclusion from every capture app or recorder.

Sharing a particular application window or a separate display is another option. Focus Mode makes CamCue compact and movable; it is not a substitute for testing screen-share behavior. Follow the rules of your meeting or interview.

If something does not work

  • No transcript: check the selected audio sources, macOS permissions, and whether the speech-model download has finished.
  • No AI answer: check your internet connection, account, and the allowance shown in the app. Practice demos have a separate allowance.
  • A document will not import: confirm that the format is supported and that PDF text is selectable. Paste a job description if importing its URL fails.
  • CamCue appears in the shared picture: do not rely on Stealth in that configuration. Change the sharing setup and check again from the receiving device.

For help, email support@camcue.app with your CamCue version, macOS version, and a description of the issue. Avoid sending private interview content or documents.

Know what stays on your Mac

Raw Listen audio stays on your Mac. Recognized speech, extracted screen text, and relevant context are sent for AI processing. Local history, documents, and presets do not sync to another computer when you sign in. Read the Privacy Policy and review Free and PRO details.
